Very fresh experimental type of movie with industrial ambient when it started at the beginning and the special effect put in black and white, and strange dance of salaryman with industrial music played in the background start the mood right up for us to be ready for some more upcoming absurdity. Tells about an infecting machine in absurd composition of lightning and detail shot, you'll see mostly close up and detail shot change rapidly with rapid epileptic lightning stimulation, a lo-fi make up effect covered by the absent of color, and the craziest stop motion i ever saw.
It will make you focus, thinking, wondering and stimulated by the imagery and an ultra tense stop-motion action scene. The imagery sometimes confuse myself on what is actually happen on the screen, what's the storyline? Maybe its the best thing about this particular movie is that it makes you completely focus, makes you think that you might missed something if you turned away from the screen. I find myself hypnotized with it every time, and almost always found myself holding my cup of ice tea mid air after drinking it, forgetting to put it down.
Parts by parts the story will be cleared towards the end of the movie. It still unclear about the origin of Tetsuo himself, as it only showed very little that the story could be expanded, but i think it's best of it to stay that way, stay in the realm of darkness and mystery, because it's the one that makes the movie so awesome. It can even build up a fan base theory and open debate of discussion on who and what is Tetsuo. Tetsuo: The Iron Man is an absolutely fascinating works from Shinya Tsukamoto, and it's definitely not something you want to miss out.
